Fake phone calls telling you your computer is infected

The virus and spyware developers sure are getting desperate. They must be losing the fight against virus and spyware. They need new income streams. They need new victims.

They are getting desperate and bold. They are now calling people at their home and telling them their computer is infected. Then they ask to connect to your computer and “fix” the problem. Then they tell you it will cost $29.99 to fix and asks for your credit card number. Ouch.

If you get one of these calls, hang up and report the number. Do not let them into your PC. Do not give them your credit card information. Do not give them any information except the dial tone.

This scam works because the callers claim they are from Microsoft. The name alone get’s peoples attention. They could probably say they are from the many anti-virus and spyware protection companies. if they call, and you have the product they say they are, it will be more effective.

Imagine, what great service? You call me before i even know i have a problem. Thing is, they are not on your side. They are not looking out for you. They want to steal your identity, and your money.
